POSTED IN Style
We love a good collaboration project – especially when two Italian design houses; fashion designers behind the Valentino line, and decorative arts firm Fornasetti, smash creative heads to bring us lifestyle pieces for the home.
In honor of Valentino opening their brand spanking new flagship store in NYC, the two designers behind the fashion house, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, collaborated with iconic decorative arts firm Fornasetti to create an objects collection which has captured my heart.
The collection is a surrealistic mashup of Fornasetti’s black + white drawings and Valentino’s signature camouflage motif on a variety of objects including sunglasses, an eyewear travel case and accompanying wooden box, a silk scarf, two wooden trays, a porcelain plate and a wooden stool.
Each piece corresponds to a faculty of sense; touch, taste, smell, sight and is represented by the accompanying body part of the opera singer whom Fornatti has been depicting in their work for a hundred years.
In true Italian style the flagship opened about a month prior to the collection’s debut – but honestly the interior design of this retail sanctuary is what wet dreams are made of. Inclusive of an 8 meter atrium, a 3 storey sculptural staircase which dog lags back and forth, post modern furnishings and lighting compliment the buildings design and materials – oh ya and it’s completely filled with VALENTINO!
